Case Study
Bulk Bagging at Hay & Brecon
Hay & Brecon Farmers take delivery of new Bulk Bagger to supply 6 depots and merchant customers. Hay & Brecon Farmers are an agricultural co-operative serving the farmers and local community of Mid Wales and the border counties as one.
Their six depots stock a wide range of agricultural goods, and also have an extensive selection of gardening, equestrian and outdoor products on sale to the general public.
The history of Hay & Brecon Farmers dates back to 1902. Within six years, it had expanded, purchasing its first horse and cart, and also opening the branch at Sennybridge. Before the outbreak of the first world war, the association had purchased the Smithy at Sennybridge, and opened for business in Brecon. The Company has grown from strength to strength and will continue to grow.
RMGroup were delighted when Hay & Brecon contacted with their need to process pack animal feed. Darryl Davies Production Manager at Hay & Brecon had visited the RMGroup stand at the LAMMA 17 show and knew that as this was a specialist market RMGroup would be the first choice.
Darryl stated: “Our old system was just not good enough and was very labour intensive, we needed a more efficient system. From initial contact with RMGroup the communication between us has been brilliant, I have always had a rapid response. I had the opportunity to ‘try before I buy’ as there was a Bulk Bagger in their factory in Newtown. I was able to bring my animal feed to their factory and try the machine. I have had issues with ‘roll back’ due to the light weight of our product, it can fall back down the conveyor as its being taken up to the chute but due to the design of theBB215 this didn’t happen.”
The installation ran smoothly and was tested fully on site. Hay & Brecon will be supplying all 6 depots and merchant customers with bulk bags from theBB215. They currently process 10,000 half tonne bags a year and this will be a much more efficient process with the BB215 from RMGroup.
When asked would they recommend RMGroup in the future, Darryl confirmed: “Yes, because the project ran smoothly and we were able to communicate well, RMGroup helped us with machine modifications to enable a more customised solution to suit our needs better.”
